Mondeuse, a red grape variety from Savoie - Cave de Cruet

Mondeuse is a typical Savoyard red grape variety, late-ripening, hardy, and productive. Its grapes are purple-red in color. Its juicy flesh with tangy flavors of morello cherry, blackcurrant, prune, and spices gives this red wine a flavorful and vigorous character whose aromas develop over the years.

A terroir wine with ageing potential (notably AOP Arbin and AOP St Jean de La Porte), Mondeuse is the ideal accompaniment to meat, charcuterie and cheese.
This light wine (between 11.5° and 12°) will see its aromas intensified by a strong cheese such as Tomme, a raclette with country ham or Diots de Savoie.

Savoie Mondeuse grape wines offered at the Cruet Fine Wine Cellar

  • Arbin is the preferred terroir for Mondeuse, a red wine with a dark purple color and aromas of red fruits and spicy notes, with generous tannins that are very present.
  • The Mondeuse de St Jean de la Porte , a rich and tannic red wine, with aromas of wild fruits and hints of spice.
  • The Sublime vintage , a selection of our best plots with manual harvesting and whole bunch vatting, giving it complex, spicy, powerful aromas and a dark purple color.
  • The Mondeuse Prestige
