Mondeuse Blanche, Savoie's forgotten white grape variety - Cave de Cruet
What is Mondeuse Blanche?
Mondeuse Blanche is a white grape variety native to the Savoie region of France. It is considered a rare and valuable grape variety, as only a few hectares remain planted worldwide.
Mondeuse Blanche is a genetic mutation of the Mondeuse Noire grape variety, which is also very common in the Savoie region. Unlike its red Mondeuse counterpart, Mondeuse Blanche produces elegant and refreshing white wines, with subtle aromas of white fruits such as mirabelle plum and pear.
Although long forgotten, Mondeuse Blanche has been revived by the winemakers of the Cave de Cruet in Savoie, who have succeeded in making it a rare and precious wine. Today, Mondeuse Blanche is considered one of Savoy's wine treasures and is appreciated by wine lovers and connoisseurs.
